The Annual Symposium on Sports Medicine
The Annual Symposium on Sports Medicine started in 1972 as a post-graduate education program whose mission is to provide the
most up-to-date training in sports medicine. The program provides educational presentations for all members of the athletic
medicine team, including team physicians, athletic trainers, coaches, nurses and physical therapists. The format is that of
didactic lectures, break-out sessions with one-on-one interaction with the faculty, and sports specific anatomical
dissections.
Dr. Jesse C. DeLee of San Antonio has been the course chairman since 1980. Dr. DeLee, an orthopaedic surgeon specializing
in sports medicine, is a clinical professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Texas Health
Science Center at San Antonio, where he is the director of the ACGME accredited Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship.
Dr. DeLee is the co-editor of the textbook Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and co-editor of the quarterly publication,
'Techniques in Sports Medicine'. He is currently the chairman of the UIL Medical Advisory Committee for high school
athletes. Dr. DeLee has served as team physician for many area high schools and universities for more than 20 years.
The 39th Annual Symposium on Sports Medicine will be held January 26-28, 2012 at the Marriot Plaza Downtown. Register on this site to receive information about the
